The Aframe is located on St. John Drive at the edge of the Conservation Area, overlooking a meadow leading to Morse River Marsh. A short distance from the cabin one can see to the ocean. The Aframe shares St. John Drive with 1877 house about 100 yards away, beyond a screen of trees.
On the first floor is a well-equipped, recently remodeled kitchen, a sunny dining area in an enclosed porch opening onto the deck, and a large living room with wood stove and a single bed. Also on the first floor are a double bedroom and full bath. Upstairs there is a large loft bedroom with two twin beds. There is WIFI. There is no television.
The Morse River, just a short walk away, is an ideal place for swimming, birdwatching and exploring in the canoes or kayaks kept for both the 1877 and the Aframe. A 1 ½ mile moderate walk through the forest on a pleasant path is the mile-long Seawall Beach, the perfect place for swimming in season, bird-watching, building sandcastles and collecting shells in any season. From the top of Morse Mountain, also within 1 ½ mile walking distance, are views of the coast stretching from Portland to Monhegan and, on a clear day, views of Mt. Washington.
1877 and Aframe are the only MRA houses where pets are allowed, but dogs are not allowed at the beach. These 2 houses rented together make an ideal site for a wedding or reunion. There is electric service in the field in front of Aframe where an event tent could be placed.
